Knowledge maping is an assembly with the following elements

Decision mapping, possibly using SenseMaker® Genba is used to create a map that can be compared with the process map to identify areas of divergence and contradiction - that process generates one set of micro-projects The same process combined with ASHEN creates a list if knowledge objects

The Exeutive question method in its 'what keeps you awake at night is then used to identify issues and opportunities

These two outputs are placed onto the axes of a Dependency grid and two types of project are identified - horizontal ones where more effective management of a single knowledge object would have a positive impact on many issues and vertical ones where the impact on an issue requires many knowledge objects to be managed. Those again become micro projects

All the micro-projects are then clustered into Cynefin and only then are technology decisions made
